NETGEAR R7000

Between the Netgear R6700 vs. R7000, the clear winner is the R7000. Even so, the R6700 has some amazing features. It’s just that the R7000 swoops in with a better USB port and WiFi speed.

Apart from these two improvements, both models have the same features. This includes Guests Networking, Beamforming Plus system, and a fast core processor. These shared features are exceptional and reliable.

The 1GHz processing speed allows better range without compromising on speed. They also feature 256MB RAM with 128MB flash memory. When you take all these features into consideration, you know they’re in it for the long run!

The difference, I’d say, depending on you as much as on the routers. The single USB 3.0 port of R6700 is fast. The only difference here is that R7000 has a second USB 2.0 port just for safety. As a back-up, this makes the R7000 more reliable.

Secondly, the speed upgrade from 1750 Mbps to 1900 Mbps is also worth considering. But again, this depends on what you really want. If it’s the speed that you’re after, go for R7000. But if its all-round performance and stability, you can pick the R6700.

Conclusion - Netgear R6400 vs. R6700 vs. R7000

When you talk about a weight distribution hitch you talk about directional control. The model that fits the bill on varied counts is the EAZ Lift Elite 48056-A Hitch. You’ll take one look at this beauty and thank yourself for buying it.

To explain to you its striking features. I want to explore all the components it’s made up of. This includes the tongue weight, sway control, pre-installed parts, and the spring bars. This breakdown should give you an idea of how this best weight distribution hitch stands up against the rest.

The maximum weight capacity of this model is 1,000 pounds. And its maximum gross trailer weight is about 10,000 pounds. This goes to show that the EAZ LIFT Elite is here to rig up your vehicle. It carries stealthy weight so you can cover the highest ground.

Plus, it has a front-to-rear weight balancing ratio. So even if what you’re towing is trailer-heavy. The truck towing it won’t feel a thing. A swift and bump-less towing ride is what you’ll get.

It’s difficult to feel the anti-sway factor on highway speed. Even more so when you’re carrying a significant load. That’s the first time the EAZ LIFE Elite has broken all records. You feel the anti-sway control pick up right from the start.

There’s an advantage to buying this weight distribution hitch. And that is its sway bar component. It eliminates any sway left from your vehicle. The sway stability truly makes for a smooth ride.

Installing this weight distribution hitch is the easiest thing to do. That’s because it comes with plenty of pre-installed parts. Like the chains and bolts on the spring bars are already installed. So you don’t have to. All you have to make sure while installing is that it’s right.

The rest, including the mounting hardware, is already taken care of. The same goes to you using specific tools for assembling the hitch. If I were you, I’d keep an open-end wrench, high-quality lubricant, and sockets in handy.

Who Should Buy This?

You need this weight distribution hitch if you’re traveling long distances. It has the best anti-sway control for its value. And kind that will probably cost you twice as much in RV centers.

That’s to say, this is also a good fit for RVs. It has everything you need to connect the camper to another vehicle. The well-engineered parts last longer and take maintenance off your back.

You’ll also find the lack of complicated parts more comforting. Since you want the least possible setup hassle when you’re on the road.

 Pros:

  • It distributes the weight more evenly.
  • The ballmount and shank are adjustable.
  • The design is more intuitive and accessible.

 Cons:

  • Some parts are more heavy duty than others.
  • You have to disconnect the anti-sway device while backing up.

2. Equal-i-zer 4-Point Sway Control Hitch

Check Price on Amazon.com

Nothing beats the 4-point sway control of a weight distribution hitch. Especially not when it’s the Equal-i-zer hitch that we’re speaking of. This superior model has got what it takes to secure your towing experience.

It’s not only good at carrying all that weight. It’s excellent at controlling it in high winds and sharp turns. Imagine you’re towing a heavy trailer on a highway. And weather conditions are a little tricky to pin down. But no matter what comes your way, it’s hard to even notice the weight you have behind.

For those of you who have a trailer to tow. You should know how heavy trailers can be. Especially when you’re navigating on a highway on a windy day.

It’s almost impossible to have a lightweight towing experience on such a day. But it’s possible with this 4-Point Sway Control Hitch. It controls all lateral movements so you can pull your directions together.

It features a bumper-pull technology that suits RVs, cargo, utility trailers, and a lot more. The way it’s designed is well-distributed and effective at balancing heavy loads. This means all the nooks and parts of this hitch contribute for a smoother ride.

So it’s not only about how long it can take a 1,000-pound tongue weight. It’s how well you can steer, brake, and control the hitch. And the axles on this hitch makes it easier to do so.

Performance wise, this weight distribution hitch opens up a bunch of possibilities. The frictionless sway control being one of them. Even the trunnion bars offer incredible ground clearance. Couple that with its 4-point sway system and you have a stand-up hitch by your side.

You can even reach a high speed without feeling a sway at the back of your truck. The parts don’t squeak or vibration even on a front drive vehicle. For those of you who are new to the world of towing. That makes all the difference while towing a heavy load.

Who Should Buy This?

You need this if you have no prior experience of towing a large and heavy load. This could be your RV, boat, or a trailer. If you’re tired of paying an exorbitant amount on hitches, it’s time you bought this valuable one.

There’s a reason why this keeps selling despite the fact that it doesn’t come with its own hitch ball. It’s a beast in terms of durability and flexibility. The hitch offers practical features. Such as the promise of a no-bounce and noiseless ride on wavy roads.

You can also back up the trailer without removing the sway bars. And it puts more pressure on the front axle for better weight distribution.

 Pros:

  • It’s easy to install, use, and maintain.
  • Greasing the metal parts can prolong shelf life.
  • Proves rugged against high winds and on rough roads.

 Cons:

I don’t want to miss out on talking about the spring bars. They are a deciding factor, one of the top 5 factors, for a weight distribution hitch. The spring bars on this thing are forged steel. Coupled with adjustable spring bar tension.

During backing up or turning, they give the vehicle room to breathe. While maintaining stability and ruggedness in control. Another component that comes into play here is the head system.

The way it holds its U-bolts and screw heads is to die for. All the brackets complement the system head in a unique fashion. There’s enough room to accommodate any kind of towing vehicle. But you have to make sure you’re under the 10,000 max gross weight count.

5. Andersen Manufacturing No Sway Weight Distribution Towing Hitch

Check Price on Amazon.com

There’s absolutely no denying that this one is an innovative plus modern towing device. It is designed to offer just the kind of weight distribution you require when on the road.

The Andersen Manufacturing No Sway Weight Distribution Towing Hitch makes your every ride safe and smooth. So you can easily tow your vehicle even on rough or dirty terrain.

But why should you consider buying it? Simply because the manufacturer is reliable! And also because the hitch doesn’t offer any vehicle-specific limitations. It works with just about any mode of transport you own.

The hitch is packed with only one pin removal. To make the experience even more convenient! This simplifies the job of detaching the hitch from the vehicle. I’m sure you want to hear such great news.

You might also like to know that no lubrication is needed. The coupler and ball move gently. Minus potential issues!

On top of that, the hitch springs are anti-bounce and anti-sway.

Let me also bring to your attention the unique dampening system. It eliminates bounce, which is responsible for balancing your trailer.

The No Sway Hitch uses chains for bracket attachments. Chains, NOT solid bars. Meaning the hitch is comparatively more lightweight than the others. It’s also one of the quietest working models out there.

Even though light in weight, the gross weight of the trailer it can carry is 14,000 pounds. As for the tongue capacity, it’s 1,400 pounds. Isn’t that excellent as far as performance goes?

Who Should Buy This?

No doubt the design of this No Sway Weight Distribution Hitch is unique. And that’s because it uses chains and a damper. Instead of the heavy spring bars! This is what helps in limiting the bouncing and swaying action that usually occurs. So you know what to turn to if you haul trailers.

It’s also important to point out that these chains are not at all difficult to adjust.

The hitching system is perfect for those who don’t have the brute strength for hooking, unhooking, and carrying around the hitch.Anderson hitches are much lighter. No matter the model! Even the connecting and disconnecting part is faster and easier.

So for straightforward setup and silent sway control, this is the hitch you should get.

 Pros:

  • Single-pin system makes installation a breeze.
  • Sway control adjustments are automatic.
  • Anti-sway and anti-bounce keep the vehicle in line.

 Cons:

  • The ballmount is prone to early damage.

Andersen Hitches Weight Distribution Hitch with ground-breaking Anti-Sway, Anti-Bounce

Buying Guide

Weight distribution hitches are towing devices. That connect to your vehicle, right? The primary purpose here is to make sure that your trailer travels smoothly. And remains well-balanced throughout the journey. This means no swaying. And only the best weight distribution hitch can do that.

Don’t expect just about any towing device to have the capacity to distribute all that weight equally. Only the correct hitch has the ability to balance the load of your mode of transport. And now that you know the top 5 choices, let me get to the next part. The part where I talk about how to choose such a great product on your own!

1  Types of Weight Distribution Hitch

Let me get straight to the point here. There are three different kinds of hitches.

•    Round Bar Hitch

The round bar type makes use of round sway bars. They connect to the bottom section of your trailer ballmount.

However, since they attach at the bottom, the hitches are not very suitable for potholes and bumps. But, overall, they work fine for the greater part.

•    Trunnion Bar Hitch

This hitch is much the same. Except for the shape of the bars, which are square and not round. Also, these square-shaped sway bars demand no clips for fastening to the vehicle.

Look forward to trunnion bar hitches providing better ground clearance. In comparison to the previous type! Even though they are not the easiest to adjust in terms of height!

•    Andersen Hitch

The Anderson style is very different from the two weight distribution hitches discussed above. This particular design employs chains and dampers. In place of sway bars that is! These chains and dampers mitigate and minimize most of the bouncing and swaying action.

That means no more having to bother yourself with chains. The hitch goes a long way when it comes to reducing trailer bounce. That’s for certain.

But, in my opinion, it’s better off not to focus much on the kind of weight distribution hitch. Instead, it’s the weight capacity that requires more attention. If the hitch you decide to buy has a weight rating suitable for your trailer, you’re alright. Also, make sure that it properly fits the receiver you want to tow.

2  Components of a Weight Distribution Hitch

There’s nothing lightweight about a weight distribution hitch. It comes with serious parts that require constant attention. Along the way, even if one part gets faulty, you need to know how to fix it or replace it. And how will you know what to replace?

Take some time to look at each individual part carefully.

•    Trailer Hitch

Also known as a receiver or a tow hitch, it’s the only part connecting to the vehicle’s frame. The receiver has varied ways of hooking up to the vehicle. It’s either a sliding, hooking or pinning feature.

You can categorize a trailer hitch based on its weight. If you look at any hitch’s weight label. It comes with the hitch’s weight carrying and distributing capacity. As I will discuss, in detail, further on, those are two very different factors. If a hitch can carry a heavy load, that does not imply that it can distribute it.

If you find a tow hitch with no specified distribution weight, it’s no good for a weight distribution hitch.

•    Adjustable Shank

The shank attaches itself to the trailer hitch. It’s the only part binding the main assembly with the trailer hitch. If this connection is severed, everything else falls apart.

Unlike a trailer hitch, a shank can have many sizes based on its drop, length, and rise. Remember, the shank size should fit with the trailer hitch. Otherwise, you won’t be able to slide the shank into the hitch even if you try!

The shank the only component that allows you to adjust the height the vehicle is at. This goes to show how rugged a shank is supposed to be in a weight distribution hitch.

•    Ballmount

Also known as the equalizer head or head assembly. The ballmount is the engine that drives a weight distribution hitch. It holds the head, spring bars, ball, and bolt attachments. If a ballmount could talk, it would probably convince you of its powers.

Ball: The weight you’re carrying and distributing gets hooked with the ballmount. It’s a metal tube or bar at the center of the head assembly. Determining the size of the ballmount should be the same as the shank size.

If the vehicle bumps or skids on the road. It’s the job of the trailer ball to keep it steady.

Coupler: It’s also the responsibility of coupler which improves mobility. It sits on top of the ball and has a rotating element to it. Allowing the vehicle to cut corners and hit bumps without disconnecting from the head assembly.

Chain: You also have the safety chain or cables to maintain stability. A stand-alone safety cable is not enough to tow a heavy vehicle. But it’s a safety precaution for better control.

•    Spring Bar

The spring bar in a weight distribution hitch has to be well-built. You will come across two types of spring bar assemblies. The first is the round style bar which slides in an upward direction toward the head. Then a set of clips keep the bar in place.

The second is a trunnion style bar which slides from either the back or sides. It, too, slides up to the head but without the help of clips.

You can choose a well-constructed and powdered spring bar. A durable coating gives it a longer shelf life. There are plenty of sizes and all of them are based on weight.

•    Brackets

A spring bar is only effective when it is held in place with brackets. Different brackets have different functions across weight distribution hitches.

Snap-Up Brackets: This is the simplest type of bracket. As the name suggests, it uses chains that connect to the spring bar. The assembly has frames that the brackets are hooked to.

Friction Sway Control Brackets: High-quality distribution hitches have this type of configuration. They offer incredible stability and sway control. If you want to upgrade from standard brackets. This is the best system in place.

Rotating Brackets: Once you attach the bracket and the chain, you can adjust it using the handle. Keep rotating the handle until the connection is tight. To keep it from disconnecting, clip it using lock pins.

3  How to Control the ‘Sway’ Factor (Includes Sway Control)

It’s a common problem, the trailer swaying back and forth. But that doesn’t mean you should let it sway. It’s dangerous after all.

Reducing Sway

So here’s how you can reduce most of the swaying drama. More often than not, swaying is a result of the following three possibilities.

  • Tongue Weight

Around 10-22 percent of the vehicle weight should rest on the towing device’s tongue. Otherwise, trailer sway takes control.

Let’s say the total trailer weight is 2000 pounds. So the tongue weight should be 200 pounds.

  • Tires

Do they have the correct air pressure? Is the size of all the tires the same when inflated? You need to know the answers to these questions. As tires also tend to increase sway!

  • Gusty Winds

It’s best to keep away from gusty winds. And here’s how you can do that.

-  Make sure your steering wheel is steady.
-  Don’t increase speed because that’s what sways the trailer vigorously.
-  Use just the brakes of the trailer to minimize sway gradually.

Preventing Sway

Keep in mind that every weight distribution hitch features sway control. It’s what prevents the unfortunate swaying action. But not all systems apply the same method. So now is the time to find out the two different types of sway controls.

  • Dual-Cam

It’s a sliding tool that suspends the hitch’s spring bars. Each cam bolt connects to the frame of your trailer. One end goes there and the other in the bracket created for lifting. The hooked and rounded ends of the spring bars sit in those cams.

For natural interaction, the spring bars positioning is such that it keeps the entire hitching mechanism in place. In fact, it also enables enough movement.

  • 4-Point

An integrated sway control, the 4-point kind, is found only in a few weight distribution units. Such a system depends on the safety connection inside the head. This is where the spring bars position lies tightly. To make way for optimal tension!

4  How Much Weight Can a Vehicle Tow

There’s a lot that goes into putting up with the best weight distribution hitch. And one of the main factors of consideration is its tongue weight capacity. You need the measurement of two different weights to get to the bottom of this. And what are they?

They’re tongue weight and gross trailer weight. These distinct weight ratings set the tone of how much weight can the hitch tow.

The gross or total trailer weight is the same as that of the load and the hitch. Both measurements are combined to give you the total weight.

The tongue weight capacity is the hitch’s capacity for any particular cargo or load. So it concerns what goes on behind the axle of your towing vehicle.

This makes the gross trailer weight higher than the tongue weight. You will lose balance over distribution overweight if this isn’t up to scale. That means the tongue weight is either more or extremely less than 15% of the gross trailer weight. This will cause the trailer to tip over or sway even on a straight road.

You need to understand what a hitch does in this scenario. It does not elevate the weight capacity of a tow vehicle. Rather it distributes the significant load to take pressure off the tongue weight.

You can’t have too much loading weight that holds steady without a hitch. Your tow vehicle is not well-equipped to handle such heavy capacities. For that, you will need a proper tongue weight capacity of a hitch.

You need to buy the closest to your towing needs. So if you’re towing 400 pounds of tongue weight with 100 pounds of cargo. You get a gross trailer weight of about 500 pounds. You don’t need a hitch that has a tongue weight of 1,000 pounds. The closest to 600 pounds of tongue weight is helpful. A 1,000 pounds tongue weight will be dangerous to take out on the road.

You need to reduce the gap between the hitch’s tongue weight and the vehicle’s gross weight as carefully as possible.

5  How to Set Up a Weight Distribution Hitch

I’ll take you through the steps to install a weight distribution hitch. It’s not hard once you pen down all its basics. And these instructions are especially a breeze when you already know a bit about weight distribution hitches.

Before we get into the details, here’s a simple tip. You know what makes a good weight distribution setup? It’s when the weight of the towing vehicle is 50% less than the weight of the trailer. The trailer can be any load that you’re carrying. If this setup is in place, it makes for a smoother and easier ride.

  • Adjusting the level of the trailer

You need to do the leveling of the trailer before attaching the hitch. So when the trailer you’re connecting the trailer to the towing vehicle. Both have to be parallel to the ground during loading.

A simple measurement between the ground to the front and back panel is enough. Do this for the towing vehicle and trailer.

Leveling both vehicles also includes the wheel opening. You need to know the exact difference in measurement of the front and back wheel. This determines the height of the towing vehicle and trailer.

  • Getting the head assembly set up

The shank is the first component that needs installing. You can either slide or plug it into the receiver. Once the vehicles are level, as done already, the receiver on both sides is not in the same line. The receiver on one is either higher or lower than the other.

Once the shank is in place, you need to attach the head assembly. This is what holds the hitch ball and spring bars also. This paves the way for how you set up the rest of the weight distribution system.

  • Installing the weight distribution system

Starting with the spring bars that are connected to a pair of chains. Whether it’s a trunnion or round spring bar system. The pair of chains connected to the spring bar increase their pressure.

The chains are often connected to brackets that hang below the trailer. With such a setup, the bars are pushed down due to the pressure of the tongue weight. And as a result, the chains attached under the bar come up.

If you don’t install the spring bars correctly. It may interfere with the way the axles on either side balance the tongue weight.

What comes next is the hitch ball. The way you use nuts and bolts to install the shank. You need to do the same for the hitch ball to the main head. Remember, you want the head assembly to be slightly lower than the level of the ball.

The coupler goes above the hitch ball in between the tow vehicle and trailer. You don’t want the tongue weight to slide off the ball without a secured coupler. You can then use a tongue jack to level the tongue weight with the rest of the hitch.

Note: The leveling of the hitch ball cannot be done in guesswork. You need to set up the ball first and then make further adjustments. Make sure everything is level. This includes the chain links, bars, ball, and the tongue jack.

6  How to Stay Safe While Towing

This is part of your training for using a weight distribution hitch. Ask any expert and they’ll tell you how important this is. By now you’ve figured that driving with a heavy weight is not a simple task. There’s a lot that comes into play with an extra pair of wheels and the heavy hitch.

So what do you do? You don’t overlook anything no matter how trivial. You keep an eye on small details, it affects everything else. The following are some of the best safe towing tips I’ve received, in a while. I’m passing it on to you because I want you to have the best towing experience of your life!

  • Keep tabs on towing weight

You won’t know which weight distribution hitch to buy without this. How else will you know the ideal size of a hitch to buy? Keeping a check on your trailer weight capacity is necessary. You prevent accidents, damages, and hold-ups in your towing journey.

  • Distribute your towing load evenly

This means keep the load in balance. Imagine you’re carrying something heavy by yourself. It wouldn’t do if one side of the object is heavier than the other. You’ll fall where it’s the heaviest because of uneven weight distribution.

The same logic applies to when you’re towing using a weight distribution hitch. If what you’re towing are cartons, for example. Make sure they’re even on both sides so the weight manages itself.

Research suggests that for towing 60% of the weight goes up front. The tongue should have the least amount of pressure as that ensures a smoother drive. And it keeps the hitch steady when you turn corners or hit bumps in the road.

  • Get your car ready

Imagine what would happen if your brakes a faulty. Or when you fail to re-adjust your vehicle’s mirror. You’re setting yourself up for a smooth ride when you pay attention to the small details.

For example, when towing a large load, it can obstruct the view. You will end up with lots of blind spots to cover. But with an extended side-mirror attached. Your visibility will be effectively unobstructed.

The second most thing is the brakes. Trailers with functioning electric brakes need a brake controller to tow. You will also have to connect the towing vehicle with a brake cable for emergency uses.

It’s obvious that when towing a vehicle. There’s more pressure on both your vehicle’s tires. Whether they’re overinflated or underinflated. Such inconsistencies can really harm your towing experience.

How to Set Up Weight Distribution Hitch Quickly?

30/05/2019 by Chris Miller

When using any weight distribution hitch, what’s the one thing you look forward to? Removing most of the weight from the rear axle of your towing vehicle. And distributing it evenly to the front side wheels. And to the wheels of the trailer. But this is only possible when you know how to set up weight distribution hitch.

It’s not only important but also necessary to attach that hitch properly. Otherwise, you’re just opening the door to accidents and problems while on your journey.

So if you genuinely want to embark on the safest journey with the trailer, it’s time to get to know the correct setup process.

How to Set Up Weight Distribution Hitch – What You’ll Need

  • Screws and bolts.
  • Jack and its stand.
  • Washers.
  • U-bolts.
  • Tape measure.
  • And a weight distribution hitch, obviously.

9 Step To Set Up Weight Distribution Hitch – Quick and Easy!!!

Step #1 – Measurements

The first thing you should be doing is positioning your towing vehicle and trailer on stable, level ground. For taking critical measurements. The measurements you note down at this point help when you have to make adjustments later.

Line up the two modes of transport. Just keep your trailer uncoupled.
Now using the measuring tape, measure that uncoupled height from the front and rear wheel openings. All the way to the ground. Also measure the height of the trailer coupler.

Step #2 – Setting Up Hitch Ball

Let me bring to your attention that it’s not only the weight distribution hitch ball angle that’s crucial. You have to make sure you’re using the correct hitch ball as well for the trailer. The rating of the hitch ball should be right is what I mean.

First, you attach the ball in its ball mount section. Lock the assembly with the help of nuts and washers. When using washers, don’t ever forget to place them right beside the nut.

As for the correct torque specifications, you can always turn to the manufacturer’s installation guide.

Step #3 – Placing the Shank/Hitch Bar

You have to go through the trouble of purchasing the correct adjustable bar or shank. One that pairs up well with the coupler height specifications of your trailer.

The length of this shank should also be right. The same applies to the tongue weight and gross trailer weight capacities. When you keep all these factors in mind, you get access to proper clearance for turning. Without causing any damage to your truck or trailer.

Now it’s time to insert that hitch bar. Put it in the towing vehicle’s receiving tube. This depends on the trailer height. The inserting part you can perform either by the rise or drop configuration. After that, secure the bar using a clip and pole pin.

Step #4 – Placing Ball Mount

The next step is to place the assembly of the ball mounts into the hitch. Begin by lowering or raising the assembly. This ensures proper setting. The height should be between one inch and three-fourth inch higher. In comparison to the earlier coupler measurement you recorded at the beginning of the setup process.

Is there some gap between the head and bar? If yes, then you have to fix a shim. The best way for solving this space issue is top down. That is if the space isn’t big enough. Feel free to use a half-inch shim. Even so, if it’s not enough, you can always fine-tune later.

Now it’s time for the hardware installation. Place it into the top and lower ball mount holes. But don’t tighten those nuts completely. All you have to do is ensure the nuts are tight enough. If you don’t want any unwanted movements of the ball mount.

Step #5 – Setting Up Spring Bars

Weight distribution hugely depends on the hitch’s spring bars. And the best part about them is that you can use any one on either side. Meaning there’s no left or right spring bar. Place any one on the right and the other on the left.

For attaching the chains, use the U-bolts These flat washers are perfect for hooking up the chains to the bars. Then lock the nuts to ensure no threads are exposed below the locking nut.

The correct bar position is when the sticker appears at the top. The reinforcement set of the trunnion at the bottom nob through the ball assembly lower socket. Then it’s time for sliding the knob over the ball mount. And swinging the bar for making sure it lines up properly. That is are the trailer frame edge.

Don’t hesitate to have a look at the table given in the instructions manual. It offers the correct height for the spring bar.

Step #6 – Adjusting Spring Bar

Okay so now you have to make spring bar adjustments. Without these, it’s impossible for the spring bar to match the proper height. You should be able to tilt that ball mount whenever needed. That’s the ultimate goal of this adjustment.

The ball needs to be vertically-placed and slightly tilted toward your trailer. However, when using with a top-mounted style coupler for the bottom-mounted style coupler, this adjustment is not the same.

Once again, check the instructions manual to know the amount of torque. You can measure the space from the towing vehicle’s front wheel. All the way to the pavement. Is the measurement within one-half inch of that measurement? If yes, then you can breathe a sigh of relief. Cause the correct weight distribution has been achieved.

Step #7 – Hookup

The hooking up part first requires you to raise that coupler. With the help of the jack of the tongue. Raise this enough so the ball passes underneath it.

Now move your towing vehicle a little backward. So the hitch ball reaches below the coupler.

The next move is to lower this coupler into the ball for latching. But don’t get rid of the jack just yet. Allow it to handle some weight.

Step #8 – Reinsert Spring Bars and Install Bracket

The bars and chains are all in the proper position. So it’s time for reinserting spring bars and installing brackets. The snap-up brackets get attached to the trailer frame. For that, position them in the middle before tightening them. Use the bolt for the task. And don’t over-tighten the brackets.

Then attach that chain into the bracket from the spring bar. This way it runs straight down and up.

Step #9 – Connecting Chain on Yoke

The final step involves connecting chain on yoke. So first off, raise the tongue of the trailer with the help of the jack. And the tow vehicle back for removing a little bit of weight. This way it becomes easier for connecting the chain.

Now you can lower the bracket yoke until the thing is parallel to the ground. The chain goes up and into the closest hook link. Make sure there are at least five links placed between the U-bolt and hook on the spring bar.

The next step is to slide the bracket. Then lift that handle placed on the yoke. Raise it till it passes over the middle point.

Now is the perfect time to place the safety pin inside the hole for deadbolting this yoke in the proper position.

Please keep in mind, you have to remove that handle. Before you repeat step numbers 8 and 9 for the remaining spring bars. Just ensure the links between the U-bolt and hook remain the same.

Once everything is where it’s supposed to be, measure the rear and front axle. Does it measure the same? If so, you can rest assured knowing the installation of the weight distribution hitch is correct. (Common Towing Mistakes)

Conclusion

If this is your first time using a weight distribution hitch, I know it can be slightly intimidating. But as an experienced user, I can tell you that the equipment is not so complicated. When you know how to set up weight distribution hitch, your ride with the caravan becomes stable and safe. There’s no way you can underestimate this fact.

It’s very important for you to understand and accept that such hitches should not be abused. Meaning they only allow the specified ball weight. So you should keep from increasing weight for your vehicle. Otherwise, accidents and other issues are only inevitable.

The installation part does look a bit tricky. But once you read the instructions thoroughly, the process doesn’t seem so daunting. You can take your own sweet time. And work at your convenience. No need to rush.

And if you have any doubts, the instructions manual is always at your disposal. Just check the guidelines to get access to the correct information. Setting up a weight distribution hitch may be a little difficult. But, to be honest, it’s not an impossible task. Simply set your mind to it and don’t give up.

Before I sign off, there’s one other thing you should know. Hitches demand some form of maintenance once installed. You have to keep them in good condition. For that, using normal lubricating grease for the spring bars is enough. Grease the bars where they connect with the ball head.

26/03/2019 by Chris Miller

We all want better information to get through various purchases. And one such common query is the battle between tall vs. short water heater. Whether you’re redecorating or moving into a new home. Considering your water heating options is always a smart idea.

Your water heater needs can make or break the dynamics of your home. You need hot water for all sorts of tasks. Be it washing dishes, taking a bath or washing clothes. A guide like this will bring to light how much water you use at home.

It’s important to understand and compare all your options. This will compel you to appreciate what I have for you next!

Tall vs. Short Water Heater – What You Need to Know

Understanding the Basics

different-types-of-water-heaters

It’s necessary to know how a water heater works. Before I can compare the various types of water heaters!

A contemporary water heater is made of a tank and the motor. The tank is what holds the water. And the motor is a heating substance that heats the water.

If you’re dealing with a traditional water heater, the water pressure builds inside the tank. While this happens, the heating element warms the water up to a specific temperature.

There are tankless and tank water heaters. Tankless water heaters heatwater on demand. They consist of a heating coil with limited water flow per minute.

A tank water heater stores heated water for quick use. The average capacity of a tank water heater for a home is 55 gallons. Storage water heaters come with a wide range of features. Such as temperature control, pressure settings, and storage.

How Does an Electric Water Heater Work

play

Understanding the Differences

The only factor of consideration between tall vs. short water heater is size. A tall water heater can hold up to 100 gallons of water. This makes them cylindrical in shape of about 45 to 60 inches tall.

A short water heater has a solid capacity of 30 to 50 gallons of water. That is half of what a tall water heater has to offer. In height, they go up to 39 inches tall. So, a tall water heater starts from where a short heater ends.

Understanding the Factors

To better pit one against the other. You need to know how useful either of them will be for you. This brings us to the factors of consideration of a tall vs. short water heater.

You Need a Tall Water Heater When:

It will take space as big as a garage or a basement to fit in a tall heater. That’s because a tall water heater holds up to 100 gallons of water. And considering how tall and wide its tank is going to be.

Not to mention, you need proper plumbing fixtures into that space. Generally, with storage water heaters this tall the main supply pipe goes is on top of the heater. There needs to be enough space to accommodate such an extensive plumbing mechanism.

There should be about 30 to 40 inches of distance between the ceiling and heater. This is enough to manually adjust the pipe for better configuration.

With a tall water heater, you will have to spend more energy. To not only maintain its high speed but its overall maintenance and power. If you have more than 3-4 family members, a tall water heater is essential.

You Need a Short Water Heater When:

Short water heaters are wide but short. Do you have enough crawl space inside or under the house? And what about enough room for connecting to the plumbing system of the entire house? If yes, then a short water heater can easily be configured.

The ideal place to install a short water heater is in the crawlspace of a garage or attic. Short water heaters are versatile and varied. If you live alone, you can buy a water heater with as little water capacity as 10 gallons.

A good thing about a short water heater is energy-efficiency. You get to consume less water while saving energy costs. Plus, short water heaters give you the fastest GPM count than tall water heaters.

Understanding the Installation

Even though there is a height difference between tall and short heaters. Both need to be as close to the plumbing system for consistent water flow. Look for auxiliary areas in your home with durable and accessible plumbing configuration.

You don’t want a pipe to burst and spend the longest time trying to find it. When you could easily invest the same amount of time and money into getting the heater fixed!

Contrary to what others tell you, vertically-aligned pipes are best. It gives you the best water flow without risk of clogging or plumbing leaks.

Key Takeaway

tall-vs-short-water-heater

You have a lot to think about after this. The decision to choose between tall vs. short water heater is not easy. You must think about your home’s water needs and the existing plumbing system. And whether you have enough space to accommodate a heater.

Let this guide be a wake-up call to you. So you make smarter home decisions that save you costs, in the long run. Because storage water heaters are so popular. There are newer and better products, such as gas and electric that give you the best performance.

And understanding how efficiently a water heater sustains. Not only for saving energy costs. But also for staving off maintenance troubles! Without all this information, you might as well go by just the price a water heater.

The Braun Series 7 7865cc Men’s Electric Shaver is a standard model that is nowhere even close to basic. And the proof of this is the fact that it can handle sensitive skin. The phenomenal technology packed in here ensures you don’t feel the need to do the same spot more than once. Isn’t that great news if your skin is prone to becoming red or irritated easily!

What’s more is that the Braun Series 7 features five different shaving modes. This includes sensitive as well as turbo modes. The adjustment system is automatic. So it has the ability to adapt to your particular beard thickness on its own.

As for the speed, you get 10,000 micro-vibrations each minute. The Braun Series 7 doesn’t leave the shortest or the flattest lying hair. It even gets hair that’s 0.05mm in length. You can’t even begin to imagine how short 0.05mm really is, can you?

The shaver moves around quite smoothly. No matter how angled your manly jaws are! At the same time, it locks into all the right places for your tough spots. Such as below the nose!

What happens after shaving is also very convenient. And by that, I mean cleaning and charging. There’s a station for each of those functions. It’s where all the magic unfolds while you get on with your day.

The cleaning part involves cycles for cleaning, lubricating, and charging the shaver. The cleaning fluid contains alcohol content to eliminate 99.9 percent of germs. And to also make sure that the blades don’t lose their original sharpness.

To charge completely, the Braun Series 7 takes one hour. And to exhaust this charge, you have to use the shaver for as long as 50 minutes. But what about the times when you forget to plug in the shaver for charging? Just use the speed charge function. It takes only five minutes, no kidding.

The Braun Series 7 7865cc Men’s Electric Shaver is waterproof. So that’s another relief, isn’t it? The product is equipped with its own charging and cleaning station. Along with a travel adapter, travel pouch, and cleaning brush.

Let me bring to your notice that the Braun Series 7 offers more extras. As compared to its Series 9 counterpart! So don’t consider this older option as a less competitive model. Especially when the manufacturer is as reliable and innovative as Braun!

 Pros:

  • Turbo and sensitive modes are quite savvy.
  • It captures the most difficult hair.
  • 4 synchronized shaving components do the job in a single stroke.

 Cons:

  • Cleaning/charging station occupies a lot of space.

The Braun Series 9 9290cc Men’s Electric Shaver is confirmation of a very popular fact. That when it comes to technology, appearances are not always deceptive!

The Braun Series 9 is unquestionably the better-looking model. But is it superior in terms of performance too? I mean I won’t deny that you are looking at the most efficient electric shaver on the current market.

But let the specs do the talking now. There are five synchronized shaving components. And they all connect with your beard in the most natural manner. The elements adjust the shaver’s power depending on the thickness of your beard. As many as 13 times per second!

Furthermore, the high-tech shaver is coated with titanium. This is what eliminates the possibility of the shaver looking dull over time. After all, titanium is a natural metal with the highest ratio of strength to weight.

When durability is guaranteed like this, you can let go of many worries. Most importantly, the shaver slipping from your hands when shaving in the shower.

Moving on, the Braun Series 9 features a superior cleaning system. As it not only cleans the shaver but also dries it after washing. Now, this is something the Braun Series 7 doesn’t offer.

Another feature that just this particular model is equipped with is the remarkable LED display. The small screen shows hygiene status and battery life. It even displays the indicator for travel lock.

As for the commonalities, both the Series 7 and Series 9 take one hour to charge. And 50 minutes to exhaust this charge. You’d expect the latter to charge in lesser time with a longer running capacity. But that’s not the case.

Even so, there’s no doubt that the Braun Series 9 is more flexible, powerful, and precise.

 Pros:

  • The intelligent motor makes every stroke efficient.
  • Titanium coating keeps the good looks intact.
  • Two specialized trimmers eliminate the most intricate hair.

 Cons:

  • Shaving surface is far too clunky and wide.

What is the best electric shaver? It’s time to decide that based on what features or characteristics matter to you the most. Does the Braun Series 9 have what it takes to give you the close shave you desire? Or is the Braun Series 7 a more comfortable to use shaver?

Keeping that in mind, allow me to discuss the factors that actually matter. When buying not just Braun but any electric shaver.

The one thing a shaver’s success relies on is how it performs. A neat, close shave is a priority for most men. I’m sure you would agree with me. So what features are responsible for that?

The top quality micro-foil of the Braun Series 7 delivers great precision. Its middle trimmer and sharp blades, in particular, have the capacity to provide close and smooth shaves.

But it’s the Braun Series 9 that offers the same end results more effortlessly.

Comfort

When I speak about comfort, the first thing that comes to mind is sensitive skin. So if that’s your concern, you require a shaver with gentle massage-like micro-pulsations. Plus, the head should remain cool during application.

Speed settings also count as they allow you to move from low-intensity to high-intensity. Or vice versa!

Keeping all this in mind, you’d be better off with the Braun Series 7. It’s got multiple speed settings. And it feels gentle against the skin. So even the high-intensity power doesn’t give rise to irritation or redness.

As for the Braun Series 9, it has no speed settings. Even so, the model is plenty comfortable. The foil, in this case too, stays cool throughout use. This is good news if you have sensitive skin.

Additionally, the improved shaving head and extra trimmer are a huge plus. As they make room for lifting the flattest lying hair. Along with mowing through your stubble without difficulty. And minimizing the strokes you make. This means lesser chances of dealing with razor burns and skin irritation.

Speed

Quick shaving sessions combined with sheer cutting strength. Such a combination is undoubtedly present in the Braun Series 9. No matter how coarse your facial hair is!

But the flexibility of the shaving block of both the models is pretty much the same. Each shaver’s head moves up and down very effectively. The cutting elements move and shaving head swivels extremely smoothly. This ensures constant skin contact.

But I don’t want to negate the truth that the Braun Series 9 features better foil shavers. That works perfectly well around tricky areas like under the jawline. The middle trimmers are the most effective. No wonder this particular model is more reliable when it comes to eliminating wiry, stray hair quickly.

As for the Braun Series 7, it’s an ideal pick for getting rid of longer hair.

Ergonomics and Build Quality

Braun Electric Shaver, Series 9 9290cc Men's Electric Razor

Innovative yet user-centered and simple; that’s the kind of electric shaver you deserve. In that case, the Braun Series 9 sets high standards in terms of ergonomics and build quality. As for the Braun Series 7, it has a slightly understated design and appearance.

But the construction is certainly very solid. The use of rubber in the back and sides offers a secure grip.

Moving on to the Braun Series 9, this model is for sure an improvement in terms of build quality. The body and glossy finish do seem like an upgrade if you ask me. Its frosted, matte treatment is able to handle fingerprints and smudges in a better manner.

However, this shaver is larger in size. Even so, the weight is not so heavy and feels well balanced. Thanks to the excellent rubber inserts in the back that ensure a very firm grip.

You get additional trimmers with both the products. And their ergonomics and positioning aren’t bad either. They are wide enough in my opinion. The not so great part is the curved structure though. It doesn’t work as well as a straight edge when it comes to long hair trimming.

The Braun Series 7 trimmer is installed in the front. And the Braun Series 9 trimmer extends from its back. But both finish the job as you would like it. So there’s no one option that is especially good or better in this regard.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Electric shavers with a cleaning station aren’t absolutely necessary. Particularly when foil shavers are incredibly easy and convenient to manually clean!

But I do admit that the cleaning stations of Braun are the best. So I would highly recommend both the Braun Series 7 and the Braun Series 9. Both have very impressive cleaning stations. The alcohol present in the solution sanitizes and cleans the shaver pretty well. This solution is also good for lubrication. So regular usage is not a problem either!

But you should know that the Braun Series 9 features a minimalist and more simplified user interface. Cleaning and charging the shaver is possible only with a single button. This model is also equipped with a drying cycle. Unlike the Braun Series 7.

So it’s quite clear that one is better than the other in this department.

Braun Series 7 vs. 9 – Final Verdict

So I have discussed all the important factors related to the Braun Series 7 vs. 9 comparison. So what’s the bottom line?

It’s very simple actually. Allow me to share what I mean.
